100 Scariest Horror Movie Moments: Part 4

39. A Nightmare on Elm Street – 1984

The Blood Bed

Believe it or not, there was a time when Freddy Krueger was actually scary, not throwing out one-liners every time he killed someone. He was actually haunting in the original, using his dream powers to haunt everyone’s dreams. Everyone has their favorite scene in the original film, one that scared them more than anything. Mine includes the scene where Freddy drags Johnny Depp’s Glen through his bed and his room is showered (and I mean, showered) in a sea of blood, covering the room in a crimson red that has rarely been matched. The late, great Wes Craven directed Depp amazingly and you can see the petrified look on Glen’s face as he is pulled to his death.
