38. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – 1974
Dinner
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the epitome of what 1970’s horror was; visceral, exploitative and real. While I think this movie is a tad overrated, there’s no underestimating its effectiveness and impact on the genre as a whole. Regardless, there is a scene in TCM so weird and strange, one can’t help but feel uncomfortable while watching it. This scene takes place at the infamous dinner scene, where Leatherface and his family have our protagonist, Sally, tied up against her will. Their insane laughing and heckling, mixed with the grandfather who can’t eat on is own, is a sight to see and one that can’t be explained.
