POP-BREAK LIVE: COHEED AND CAMBRIA WITH SAVES THE DAY AT STARLAND BALLROOM
Since their formation in the late nineties, Coheed and Cambria have been known for their expansive concept albums. Most of their albums have been based off of Claudio Sanchez’sscience fiction comics, The Amory Wars.
The science fiction, story based albums are full of progressive rock, pop, metal, and post hardcore sounds. However the band’s eighth studio album, The Color Before the Sun, took a different path. Coheed and Cambria’s newest album focuses on the emotions of Sanchez, instead of following a story framework of epic characters. The Color Before the Sun was the first album the band recorded live in studio as well, bringing home the uniqueness of this album in the band’s discography.
Last Saturday, October 15th, Coheed and Cambria brought a raw honesty to their set at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, mixing their well known classics with their new, more straightforward songs. Saves The Day, a New Jersey native band, has been opening for Coheed and Cambria during their fall tour. The October 15th show was no different with Saves The Day playing a robust setlist and covering Nirvana’s “Drain You” with Coheed and Cambria. Pop-Break’s Keeyahtay Lewis documented the night.
