Best Make, Hairstyling and Costume Design: This episode focuses on one two of the technical categories, Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Achievement in Costume Design. In the episode, Matt and Marisa reveal that they both watched Pinocchio despite promising to skip it, praise the makeup in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and finally address the Hillbilly Elegy of it all.

Best Original Song & Score: Marisa and Matt continue their annual breakdowns of every category at the Oscars one nominee at a time. This episode focuses on one of Marisa’s perennial favorite categories (Original Score) and one of Matt’s least favorites (Original Song). For Best Original Score, the nominees are Terence Blanchard for Da 5 Bloods, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross  and Jon Batiste for Soul, Emile Rosseri for Minari, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Mank and James Newton Howard for News of the World.

For Best Original Song, the nominees are “Husavik” from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah, “Speak Now” from One Night in Miami…, “Io Si (Seen)” from The Life Ahead and “Hear My Voice” from The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Best Animated Feature Breakdown: The Animated Feature nominees are OnwardOver the MoonA Shaun the Sheep Movie: FarmageddonSoul and Wolfwalkers. During the episode, Marisa confesses her undying love for all things Shaun the Sheep, Matt admits he doesn’t know any children and they both wonder whether Pixar is trying too hard to make audiences cry.
