Some of the biggest video games are released in the months leading up to major December holidays. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are all planning some big exclusives, multi-platform, and extremely memorable games as 2014 closes out. Here’s a look at ones you may want to watch out for*.
September
Destiny
What: PS4, XBOX One
When: Out now
Why: Created by the people behind Halo, the game is a first-person shooter that uses a character creation system right from the get go, and choices affect the game is played. In fact, the game’s development is being labled as “alive.” In game happenings might be completely random and have nothing to do with the creation itself. It’s going to definitely be different, and totally worth a look if you want something truly unique as far as gaming goes.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes
What: Multiple consoles
When: September 23rd
Why: Disney’s massive interactive game is taking on a new franchise; the Marvel Universe. Heroes such as Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Wolverine, Hulk, and anybody else that is out to save New York from the forces of evil are available to “pay and play (buy a figure and use it on the base)” near the end of the month. Kids will love it, but there may be some Disney Infinity enthusiasts who are willing to empty their wallets for this.

Hyrule Warriors
What: Wii U
When: September 26th
Why: Story moves to the background as combat takes center stage in Hyrule Warriors, Nintendo’s “spin-off” to The Legend of Zelda series. Play as franchise regular Link or several other characters, and take down hordes of baddies in this gorgeous looking game. It would probably be a good choice after a stressful day at work. Possibly the biggest Nintendo home console release before Christmas (Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U still doesn’t have an official release date, but we’ll get to that), let’s hope Link and company can be heroic in an all new way for Nintendo fans.
