91. When a Stranger Calls – 1979
“The Call is Coming from Inside the House”
When a Stranger Calls carries one of the most recognizable and frightening scenes in cinema history. Whilst babysitting, Jill (Carol Kane) begins to get some calls that ask her to check on the children. After some more disturbing calls, she has the police begin to track it. When the cops call her back, they let her know the call is coming from inside the house and insisting she gets out of there. The look on her face is pure terror and the audience feels it. You root for her to get out of there and fear for her life. This scene has stood the test of time, even today where kids won’t even know what a landline is.
