Thank you Stephen King for making the beautiful St. Bernard into a mangy, dirty and brutal killer. Seeing this film as a young child, it made me horrified of the gentlest breed of dog. And nothing scarred me more than the scene where Dee Wallace’s Donna and her son, Tad, are trapped inside a Ford Pinto. Every attempt to escape is thwarted by the rabid St. Bernard. One particular moment makes you think the dog will be coming from one angle but rears his ugly head behind them with a thunderous growl.
