Pop Break Live: WMMR’S MMRBQ 2019 featuring Siravo, Bad Wolves, The Glorious Sons, Fozzy, Evanescence, The Struts and Shinedown at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ
Philadelphia’s iconic rock station 93.3 WMMR hosted their annual MMRBQ at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ on Saturday May 18th.
The show has always been one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer. The station celebrated their 50th anniversary last year so they have lots of fans in the Tri-State area who have made this an annual event since 2007. The lineup over the years has been impressive and has included such acts as: Rob Zombie, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, Ghost, Halestorm, Breaking Benjamin and Velvet Revolver.
This year’s show was very diverse — covering the past, present and future of hard rock. The four headliners have definitely been keeping busy over the last year or so. The legendary Joan Jett & the Blackhearts are currently touring the U.S this summer through October, which followed their Australian tour last year. The Struts, who became instant darlings to the Philadelphia area when the graced the main stage of the Made In America Festival in 2015, are touring in support of their killer critically acclaimed album Young & Dangerous, released on October 26th. Evanescence has kept busy with their co-headlining tour with Lindsey Stirling, which followed their hugely popular tour Synthesis Live (with a full orchestra) that left fans spellbound. Shinedown is still riding high from their stellar album Attention Attention, released a year ago.
The opening bands were Bad Wolves, The Glorious Sons and Fozzy, fronted by pro wrestler Chris Jericho. Philly’s own Siravo was picked to open up the show (Jaxson’s Local Shots Artist).
It was a beautiful day on the Camden Riverfront as the weather gods cooperated this time around. Siravo opened up the show with their lightening quick metal and instantly got a great response from the audience. It set the tone for what would be an incredible day of music. The rest of the show was a mix of old school rock and roll, hard rock, more metal and some in-your-face glam (thank you Struts). The lighting this year was impressive and they even threw in a little confetti and pyrotechnics.
It was a very receptive crowd throughout the entire day and no doubt fans are counting the days until they get to do this all over again in 2020.
