The Face Melt
Much like The Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark is full of comedy and adventure but, again, can be quite scary. Indiana Jones faces a wide variety of threats, outrunning boulders and arrows and, in later films, jumping out of airplanes and surviving a man who can rip your heart out of your chest. But it all started with Raiders, and the scene where the Ark of the Covenant begins to melt the faces of the Nazis is horrifying. This scarred many people in the 80’s and gave me nightmares the first time I saw it. The best part is, it still holds up and makes you grab your face (pun intended) in terror.
