US Title Match: Rusev vs. John Cena
Bill Bodkin: Tough call, but I think with Rusev looking strong on RAW that dictates that John Cena will win and I’m okay with that. Rusev has been booked strong and hopefully this finish doesn’t ruin it. If they construct this as an intense brawl, this’ll be a lot of fun.
Steve Miller: This is the classic Vince McMahon, old school match and promotion and that’s the problem. This may as well be Nikolai Volkov against Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the two will wrestle in the same way. I may be in the minority on this, but this show would be no different if this clash didn’t take place at all. Cena is going to win to give some sort of gravitas to the US belt, but both of these performers are boring and do nothing to push the company forward. There is nothing entertaining about either of them and I turn the channel or fast forward the DVR when either of them or Lana is on.
Jeff Parsons: Cena is being a good soldier here, helping elevate a guy on the roster. I know people love to give him crap all the time, but the guy always does what’s “best for business.” That said, I think Cena wins the US Title, for the same reasons I think Bryan wins the IC belt. That way they can have house shows where Cena is in the main event defending a belt that for years nobody has cared about. Instant credibility.
Mostly, I want to see an end to the Ivan Drago version of Rusev, and a defeat should do that. Let him turn on Lana and go babyface, and maybe I’ll finally get my “Gold is best” Rusev that I know will be over like crazy.
Anthony Toto: I’m instantly put off by this feud whenever I see the “USA vs. Russia” propaganda on Raw. How many times could WWE recycle this storyline….who am I kidding? Regardless of John Cena’s current midcard status, I fully expect Vince McMahon to pull the trigger and bring him back into contention for the main title by SummerSlam. Regardless of Rusev’s undefeated streak, Vince won’t allow him to destroy Cena at Wrestlemania. Winner: John Cena
Kenny Pete: This match on paper looks like a snooze-fest, I think it’ because not many people are sure about Russev. Having seen him work live on a few recent house-shows, he is definitely the truth & is more than capable of having a very competitive match with the company’s golden goose. This match will be better than everyone expects it to be. Cena wins because, ‘Murica.
Michael Dworkis: Is this the match where Rusev loses cleanly? Does John Cena eat a major loss and start a heel turn? It is strange how they play up how Cena might be “getting old” which is strange, as Randy Orton has been around exactly the same length as Cena. However, Big Show, Kane, Goldust, and Mark Henry surpass John Cena by nearly a decade… So… Yeah. Lame. I get Rusev is over as a big bad man. But lately I feel his gimmick has been tapering off, as the hype is wearing off. So, a win over Cena would give Rusev a huge boost, except what would be next? You beat Cena, then what? Face off with Brock Lesnar? This is a tough one to call, but although we have been desensitized at this point to predictability, I’m heading with another direction. Winner and still United States Champion: Rusev
Jon Lister: To paraphrase Terrell Owens, “Get your pillow ready.” Last PPV, I fell asleep during this match and I haven’t gotten an opportunity to see the Danielson vs. Reigns match still and I’m quite bitter about it. I don’t see much changing this time around except for Cena winning this time so he can be the “All-American Hero” he wants to be. Maybe he’ll take the Mysterio mantle for this Wrestlemania. Now, now, I don’t mean he will kill Rusev, I just mean he’ll go to the ring in a Captain America costume.
Evi Dworkis: Who I want to win, Rusev, because his theme is awesome, he wrestles barefoot (!!!!) and because we’re all tired of seeing Cena win. Who will probably win, Cena.
