66. The Fly – 1986
The Transformation
There are a couple transformations on this list but none are as disgusting and sickening as the one in David Cronenberg’s The Fly. When Jeff Goldblum’s experiment begins to go wrong, he begins to morph into a hideous human fly. Chris Walace’s effects (which won an Oscar for Best Makeup) give us a gross-out moment, including melting flesh and a sticky, grimy monster that sits before our very eyes. Ew.
65. Cabin Fever – 2002
The Leg Shaving
Speaking of gross out moments, Eli Roth is famous for his mixture of realistic violence and disgusting eyesores. This is never more apparent than in Roth’s first feature film, Cabin Fever. A lot of blood is spilled in this film but the one scene that gets audiences hearts pounding is the leg-shaving scene. As Cerina Vincent sits in the tub, infected with the flesh-eating virus that has infested her and her friends, she gets the bright idea to shave her legs. The first shave is normal but once the second comes and you hear the skin ripping from her bod. Audiences everywhere shrieked, begging her not to do it again. Of course, she does it again, scraping more skin off her leg and leaving the films audience in a fit of disgusted hysterics.
