BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Emma Stone (Birdman)

Birdman
This was another close call between Stone and Patrica Arquette (Boyhood), and in all honesty it came down to their signature scenes. While Arquette’s moment at the kitchen table right before Mason leaves for college is heartbreaking, I have to give the slightest of edges to Stone’s monologue in Birdman. She completely rips her dad apart in the most vicious way possible, but it’s Stone’s immediate reaction that seals it. She instantly regrets it. It’s one of the most powerful scenes in Birdman, and a sequence where Stone went to that next level of acting.

Daniel Cohen likes movies and bagels, and that’s pretty much it. Aside from writing Box Office predictions, Daniel hosts the monthly Batman by the Numbers Podcast on the Breakcast feed. Speaking of Batman, If Daniel was sprayed by Scarecrow's fear toxin, it would be watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on a non-stop loop.
