BEST SCREENPLAY

WHIP_INTL_1Sht_Lk2_LYRD

Damien Chazelle (Whiplash)

While I denied Chazelle as a director, no way I’m denying him here. This is a flawless script. The conflict between the protagonist and antagonist is at the highest level. The dialogue is insanely good. It’s a simple story, yet ridiculously complex and the movie that makes you think the most. It’s the same reason I gave Her Best Screenplay last year.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu/Nicolas Giacobone/Alexander Dinelaris/Armando Bo (Birdman)
  • Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby)
  • E. Max Frye/Dan Futterman (Foxcatcher)
  • Phil Lord/Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie)

Speaking of Batman, If Daniel was sprayed by Scarecrow's fear toxin, it would be watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on a non-stop loop.
