48. Suspiria – 1977
The Mirror
Suspiria is one strange movie, beautifully blending natural suspense with in your face blood and gore. I’ve seen this film a lot and still discover new scares every time I see it. The best scene is definitely the scene with the mirror. Yes, by today’s standards you could see this coming a mile away but the first time you see it, wow. When that hand crashes its way through the mirror and grabs that girl, your heart skips a much earned beat.

47. Rosemary’s Baby – 1968
Hail Satan!
This particular scene in Rosemary’s Baby is a brilliant example of less is more. When Rosemary pulls back the curtain of her baby’s carriage, her eyes widen and she begins to shriek. Instead of showing us what she has seen, director Roman Polanski relies heavily on his actors, asking them to sell what we aren’t seeing and help our imaginations picture what’s behind the veil. Our suspicions are intensified by the people in the room who inform Rosemary that her child’s father is Satan, praising his name in the process.
